Tornado damage confirmed in Livingston Parish
LIVINGSTON - The National Weather Service confirmed Monday that storm damage overnight in Livingston Pairsh was caused by a tornado.
A survey team confirmed damage found north of Livingston indicated an EF 1 tornado. This means winds gusted in the range of 85-110mph.
The storms were caused by a cold front which moved through the area Sunday night and into Monday morning. People reported the most significant damage in Livingston Parish, though another tornado was reported in Mississippi.
Even in areas where tornadoes didn't touch down, winds may have topped 60 mph, which is more than strong enough to topple trees. A News 2 Crew reported downed fences, roof damage and overturned trampolines. While East Baton Rouge Parish dodged most of the wind damage, there were reports of flooding from the heavy rains.
