BATON ROUGE- A tomato celebration is on its way to Baton Rouge. This morning on 2une In Darlene Rowland talked to News 2's John Pastorek about this weekend's Tomato Me Crazy event.
Farmers in Louisiana grow some of the best-tasting tomatoes in the world. Tomato Me Crazy is a festival that celebrates famers and their Louisiana tomato crop. It will feature a wide selection of the delicious fruit including: heirloom, Cherokee, green and yellow, Celebrity, beefsteak, cherry, grape, and plum tomatoes.
Tomato Me Crazy is part of Fresh Fest 2015, which features a different healthy theme every Saturday of the summer. It's going on at the Red Stick Farmers Market in Baton Rouge.
Tomato Me Crazy will feature a cooking demonstration by Chef Brant Palazzo of D'Angelo's Restaurant. The event will also have kid-friendly activities, take-home recipes, tomato plants, and tomato stomping music by zydeco musician, Mel Chavis.
