Toddler thrown from vehicle in critical condition
PRAIRIEVILLE - Louisiana State Police are investigating a single car crash in Ascension Parish that critically injured a two-year-old when he was thrown from the car.
Troopers say 18-year-old Jonqualya Benton was driving on US Hwy 61 when she ran off the road, hit a driveway and overturned. The child was thrown from the car and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators don't know if they child was restrained properly at the time of the crash. Excessive speed is considered to have been a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
