Toddler killed, babysitter wounded in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police say a 13-month-old girl is dead and the child's 18-year-old baby sitter is in stable condition after a shooting in Central City.
Police spokesman Frank Robertson says the toddler and baby sitter were out walking Thursday night when shots rang out and two men were seen running from the area.
Robertson says the baby sitter was shot in the back.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the 13-month-old girl as Londyn Samuels.
Police have not released the name of the baby sitter.
Police say SWAT team members were dispatched early Friday morning to a home in the same neighborhood where the shooting occurred after detectives tried to interview those in the house.
Police would not confirm if incident was related to the shooting.
