CLINTON - People with outstanding fines in Clinton have less than two weeks to pay up, or be locked up.

The town is offering an amnesty program to help clear more than 1,000 warrants. Offenders can either pay in full or if they choose to take part in the program the fee for an extension is $35.

If arrangements aren't made by July 12 police will start rounding people up. Anyone arrested will have to pay the full fine to get out of jail.

"Your license will be suspended. You can and will face jail time. We don't want to put you in jail. That's why we ran an amnesty program. However, if you don't want to work with us, these warrants will be cleared one way or the other," said Clinton Police Chief Fred Dunn.

If you're unsure about warrants call the Clinton Police Department.
