Tim Vessel recalled by Gonzales voters
GONZALES - Voters overwhelmingly chose to recall Gonzales city council member Tim Vessel after a series of controversial votes and actions which cost the town.
Vessel and another council member, Gary Lacombe, had been targeted by a group of citizens organized under the name "Save Gonzales."
Lacome resigned from his seat at the end of November.
Citizens with "Save Gonzales" said they were concerned by votes Vessel and Lacombe made against zoning issues which cost the city job opportunities. The two were also criticized, along with council member Terance Irvin, for slashing funding to the police department from the city's budget.
During the Nov. 5 election Gonzales Police also cited Vessel for riding a sign-covered bike too close to polling places. The signs urged voters not to recall him, and were seized by police.
