Tigers top All-SEC selections
HOOVER - For the LSU Tigers, 13 might be their lucky number. Thirteen members of Les Miles' 2012 squad made the media's preseason All-SEC team, announced Thursday morning.
That's the most players from any team. Seven Tigers made the first-team, which is tops in the SEC.
Tackle Alex Hurst is the lone offensive player to garner first-team honors. Defensive ends Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery and defensive backs Tyrann Mathieu and Eric Reid represent the Tigers on the first-team defense.
Sophomore Brad Wing is the first-team punter, and Mathieu is the league's first-team return specialist.
Offensive tackle Chris Faulk, center P.J. Lonergan and kicker Drew Alleman made the second-team.
Running back Spencer Ware, cornerback Tharold Simon and defensive tackle Bennie Logan round out LSU's selections on the third-team.
Alabama running back Eddie Lacy, a Geismar native and Dutchtown alum, was elected to the second-team offense.
