Tigers planning for Ole Miss offensive attack

The LSU football team will face one of its toughest challenges of the season Saturday afternoon, when the Tigers try to slow down the Ole Miss offensive attack. The Rebels average more than 31 points per game, and hung 42 points on a decent Tennessee defense just last week.

The key to shutting down the rebels is to contain Dexter Mccluster, the reigning SEC player of the week ran for school records against the Volunteers, with 282 rushing yards and 324 all-purpose yards. but slowing down a player of his skill-set is easier said than done.

Les Miles: "Great speed. He anticipates the cut. He's tough to touch, and he's a physical runner as well. He'll pound it up in there, so he's a very talented runner."

Chad Jones: "He breaks a lot of tackles for a smaller back, just gotta put him on the ground on first contact, we all gotta get to the ball."

When the Rebels need a change of pace, they turn to their big back, Brandon Bolden. If the name sounds familiar, it should be. The former Scotlandville high standout has made good at Ole Miss and is second on the team with 569 yards rushing and four Td's.

Les Miles: "To me, he's a very physical back and plays very well. I'd expect that he would play just like that."

Then comes the strong arm of quarterback Jevan Snead. He's been inconsistent this fall, but the pre-season hype was there for a reason. Snead has thrown for just under two thousand yards and can light it up when he's on a roll, and the Tigers remember that all too well from last year.

Kelvin Sheppard: "He picked us apart, I mean, he's a great talent. He's had a rough year but you never know when it's his time to start clicking."

Les Miles: "We have to be prepared that when he takes snaps, it's not only the run that we're worried about, but the opportunity for him to throw it certainly is there."

Of course, the Rebels have a few more weapons than this 3-headed monster, but contain this trio and the Tigers will like their chances.
