Tigers lose series opener to Aggies after delays
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After rain delayed the start of their game against Texas A&M, the Tigers lost their series opener to the Aggies 2-1 in a soaked College Station matchup.
Aggies pitcher Daniel Mengden held No. 3 LSU to five hits in the game, and reliever Jason Jester recorded his 13th save.
The Tigers led 1-0 into the seventh, when the Aggies put together a two-run rally in the bottom of the inning.
"It's disappointing to lose a series opener for the first time this season," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri, "but we certainly have an opportunity to rebound over the next two games. I'm confident we'll come back to the ball park determined to even this series."
The teams meet in Game 2 of the series at 6:30 p.m. CT.
