BATON ROUGE - The LSU Tigers escaped an upset bid from Northwestern St Wednesday night in extra innings. Freshman Alex Bregman singled to right field to pull out the tight contest in the 13th inning, 2-1.

Freshman pitcher Russell Reynolds pitched five scoreless innings, only allowing three hits in his second start of the year.

The Tigers play host to Auburn Friday night for their SEC home opener at Alex Box Stadium.
