The Purple and Gold World Series did not draw the same excitement as the College World Series just five months ago. It was not meant to. "I've learned some good things and some bad things." Paul Mainieri said after the intrasquad practice series. "Our pitching is a deep as it's been since I've been here."
The series wraps the five-week fall practice session. This world series was to extract a baseline for Coach Mainieri to evaluate for the next several weeks.
The LSU team was divided up two teams with the Gold team defeating the Purple team 5-3.
Friday will be the final practice of fall ball. The players will report January 19th for workouts with February 1st starting the first official practice.
