LSU Tiger Baseball opened up the 2013 season with a 1-0 win over Maryland on Friday night as starting pitcher Aaron Nola set the tone with nine strikeouts. Tiger pitching limited the Terrapins to four singles on the night, as Nola threw six and two thirds innings allowing two hits, zero runs, one walk and struck out nine, just one shy of his career high.
The Tigers scored the game's only run in the third inning as freshman shortstop Alex Bregman drove in leadoff man Chris Sciambra.
LSU will try to win the series Saturday afternoon with first pitch coming at 1p.m. and Tiger pitcher Ryan Eades on the mound.
