Tiger baseball rolls 13-5 over Southern Miss in Wally Pontiff Classic
LSU head coach Paul Mainieri may not need to worry about his pitching problems if his team can continue to hit like they did Tuesday night in a 13-5 win over Southern Miss.
The Tigers belted out 15 hits and improved to 28-9-1 on the season as they opened up a four game road swing with the contest against the Golden Eagles in the Wally Pontiff Classic at Zephyr Field.
LSU scored ten runs in the first four innings of the game and were led by centerfielder Andrew Stevenson who finished four for four with two RBI and one run scored.
LSU thirdbaseman Christian Ibarra was 2 for 3 with a career high four RBI.
Reliever Henri Faucheux (3-0), the third of seven LSU pitchers, was credited with the win as he worked 1.1 innings and allowed no runs with no hits.
