Tiger baseball advances to Super Regionals with 5-1 win over ULL
The LSU Tiger baseball team won it's 20th NCAA Regional title on Sunday night with a 5-1 victory over ULL in Alex Box Stadium.
The Tigers will now move on to Super Regional play where they will face the Oklahoma Sooners who won the Blacksburg Regional beating host team Virginia Tech 10-4.
The Super Regional will start either Friday or Saturday, an announcement from the NCAA is expected late Monday night or early Tuesday. The winner with the best two-out-of-three record will advance on to the College World Series.
The Tigers rode the arm of starting pitcher Brent Bonvillian for five an a third innings, as the typical reliever threw a career outing allowing just three hits and one unearned run.
LSU got the bats going in the 6th inning, and Tiger shortstop Alex Bregman finished the night 3 of 4 with 2 RBI and his sixth home run of the season.
