Thursday evening TS Karen update
BATON ROUGE - As of Thursday evening, Tropical Storm Karen's position remains unchanged in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tropical storm warnings remain for Grand Isle to the mouth of Pearl River. This means tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning within the next 36 hours.
A hurricane watch is in effect from Grand Isle to Destin, Florida, and tropical storm watches are up for Lakes Maurepas, Lake Pontchartrain and west of Grand Isle to Morgan City.
Tropical Storm Karen is 340 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River and moving on a north, northwesterly track at 10 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are at 65 MPH and the storm has a central pressure of 999 MB.
