GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies asked for the public's help solving a pair of armed robberies in Ascension Parish this week.

Spokesperson Allison Hudson with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said the robberies happened Wednesday on S. Sammy Avenue, one in the morning and the other that night.

Hudson said in the first incident, neighbors called authorities after hearing gunshots from a man's residence. Deputies said the man was robbed at gunpoint by a thin black man wearing a t-shirt over his face and a black hooded sweatshirt, weighing about 130 pounds and between 5'8" and 5'9". No one was injured in the incident.

Sheriff's deputies said in the second incident, a pair of white males robbed a 72-year-old Gonzales man at gunpoint after hitting him over the head. They said the pair stole $900 from the man, who had minor injuries.

The sheriff's office offered a cash reward for information leading to arrests in either case. If you have tips, call them in at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to the sheriff's office anonymous tip line.
