Three rescued from wreck that clogged I-10
BATON ROUGE - Traffic on I-10 through East Baton Rouge Parish was stopped for hours after wrecks on both sides of the interstate during Thursday's evening rush.
A fiery crash closed I-10 eastbound at Highland Road near Prairieville. Traffic was stopped as far as Bluebonnet. The road reopened at 5:30 p.m.
State Police told WBRZ News 2 reporter Ryan Naquin, who was stuck in the traffic in Ascension Parish, that a medical helicopter transported one person from the scene and that two others were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
I-10 westbound re-opened at the Mississippi River ahead of 5 p.m. but traffic was stopped into the city of Baton Rouge for a while. Crews had to remove a vehicle from the interstate.
Congestion lasted into 7 p.m.
