Three inmates are on the loose in Avoyelles Parish after escaping from the jail in Marksville early Tuesday morning. Authorities say the inmates forced a guard to open a door at knifepoint.

Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson says the inmates are Quentin Truehill, 22, Kentrell Johnson, 39, and Peter Hughes, 22. Truehill was serving time for manslaughter, while Johnson was convicted of armed robbery and a parole violation. Hughes was in jail for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

Authorities believe the three were picked up by an accomplice. They are considered armed and dangerous.
