BATON ROUGE- People in need picked up food today donated to WBRZ's 28th Annual Feed a Family Food Drive.

Some said they weren't sure what they would have eaten tonight without it.

"There's a lot of people in this world that's homeless, and a lot of people that work that still can't supply for their kids. And I really think it's important that ya'll help people that's in need, " said Charlene Richard.

Nearly 200,000 people in need depend on Feed a Family food drive meals each year. It's a need that becomes even more critical during the holidays.

"The holidays create such strain, and this year it's even more significant because of the hurricane we've gone through really tapped a lot of our resources," says Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank President Michael Manning.

Tapped out resources is something Masheena Senegal says she knows a lot about.

"I just moved here from Texas. I came out here by myself with my two girls," she says.

For every dollar donated the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank can buy seven meals to help out those in need. For more information about the food drive, visit our website.
