PLAQUEMINE- Thousands of people are without power after connectivity was lost between some power grids Wednesday night.
Mayor Mark Gulotta said the issue is believed to be a connection problem with an Entergy line. Gulotta said crews are working to pinpoint which line is having an issue, and restore services.
Power was lost just after 7 p.m. and is expected to be off for a little while. Gulotta said he expected an update on the situation by about 8:30 p.m.
Gulotta said there's no emergency situation, and city services are functioning.
"All city services work; the water is fine. We have backup generators powering those things," Gulotta said.
The outage is spanning two parishes. Power is out along LA 1 from Plaquemine in Iberville Parish, into West Baton Rouge where Brusly is also without power.
Calls to Entergy spokespeople went unanswered.
