The Catholic Church says nearly 2,700 people called the church's national sexual abuse hot line in Germany in the first three days of operation. The church says most callers reported cases of sexual abuse but some reported physical abuse. A church spokesman says some of the cases date back years and if they involved accusations against current priests, the hot line experts would alert the diocese and prosecutors. The church set up the hot line as abuse allegations mounted because many victims seemed reluctant to report cases to the diocese.
