CHICAGO – It may have been in the midst of a crime, but four thieves may have saved a dog's life in Chicago.

Four men smashed a window and stole a laptop from a truck parked outside of a neighborhood pub. However, it turns that a German Shepard was baking from the scorching heat inside the truck.

Security video from the pub captured the incident. The owner of the pub said that the dog would have probably died from the heat.

"If the window wasn't broken the dog would probably be dead," Declan Morgan, owner of the Irish Nobleman Pub, said."The dog was in the backseat. They didn't realize the dog was in there. The windows were tinted in the back."

Morgan said he did not see the German Shepard inside before the window was smashed because the windows were tinted. According to Morgan's surveillance video, the dog sat in the hot truck for 20 minutes before the window was smashed and it took another 40 minutes before the owner returned.

Chicago Police have not commented on the incident.
