Thieves hit mobile phone store, swipe $46,000 in items
BATON ROUGE- Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said Tuesday, they are looking for two men who stole about $46,000 worth of items from a mobile phone retailer over the weekend.
The theft was reported Monday. Investigators said they believe to men wearing baseball caps, jeans and t-shirts pried the front door of the store in the 14400 block of Wax Road open at the lock. Once inside, they filled two large bags full or merchandise.
Cell phones and accessories were among the things stolen.
"If you're buying items like cell phones online, you need to be aware of who you are buying from," department spokesperson Casey Hicks said addressing the possibility the thieves may try to sell some of the items online.
"Make sure you get the proper information and credentials with each item because you want to make sure they're not stolen," she said.
