Thief walks off with $250K Blue Dog painting
NEW ORLEANS - The George Rodrigue family reported a thief walked off with a $250,000 Blue Dog painting from the late artist's French Quarter gallery Tuesday.
According to WWL-TV the theft happened around 3:15 p.m. at the gallery on Royal Street. The painting is titled "Wendy and Me", and depicts Rodrigue as his iconic Blue Dog in a tuxedo standing next to his wife Wendy.
A gallery spokesperson said the thief lifted the painting right off the wall. Police said they would review the gallery's surveillance video. Check out the security camera footage for yourself on YouTube by clicking here.
