Theater in Chalmette to show 'The Interview' movie
CHALMETTE - There aren't many movie theaters around the nation showing "The Interview," the movie that provoked an international incident with North Korea. One of those places is Chalmette Movies in St. Bernard Parish.
On Tuesday, Sony Pictures Entertainment decided to allow the controversial movie to be screened at select independent theaters and Chalmette Movies is one of them. It will begin screening the movie starting Christmas Day. The showing will be at 9:30 p.m.
After hackers last week threatened terrorist attacks against theaters showing the film, the nation's major multiplex chains dropped "The Interview." Sony soon thereafter canceled the film's release altogether and removed mention of it from its websites.
But after President Barack Obama criticized that move, Sony announced that it would show the movie at selected theaters.
