'The Walking Dead Escape' coming to Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - Mayor Kip Holden welcomed a horde of ravenous, flesh-eating monsters to Baton Rouge Tuesday, as he announced details for 'The Walking Dead Escape' at the River Center next month.
Participants buy tickets to be a "walker" or "survivor", then navigate an obstacle course to either hunt down the living or escape the undead. People who sign up to be walkers will be given the full zombie treatment by professional makeup artists.
The interactive obstacle course is on its first nationwide tour after a debut at last year's San Diego Comic Con, and is the product of 'The Walking Dead' graphic novel and TV series creator Robert Kirkman.
The event will be at the Baton Rouge River Center on April 24 as well as the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans on May 24. Tickets are $75 for survivors, $95 for walkers, or $150 for VIP tickets which let participants do both. There will also be areas for spectators to watch their friends try to outrun the zombie hordes.
