The road work wish list that likely won't get done
BATON ROUGE- People testified before lawmakers Wednesday, telling them traffic congestion is almost out of control here.
They are begging for help that might not come. Money to fund the projects is hard to come by and previous efforts to obtain funds have failed.
Some projects are years overdue, State Senator Bodi White said.
"It's years off, it's very frustrating," he said. "It's hard for me to sit through the transportation meetings and see the projects we need done and I know we need them done. But, it's not like we don't need to waste the money. We just don't have the money."
On the wish list: widening Airline Highway, new lanes on I-10 between Highland Road and Highway 22, and a new bridge over the Mississippi River in Iberville Parish.
