World champion Spain has stayed atop the FIFA rankings, and the United States dropped five places in the top 20.
Spain led World Cup runner-up the Netherlands, with Brazil third and Germany fourth.
The U.S. tumbled to No. 18 because its four wins at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July 2009 dropped in value.
The U.S. lost to Brazil 2-0 in a high-profile exhibition Tuesday at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
