BATON ROUGE- The Advocate, the city's daily newspaper, posted on its website Tuesday night, it had been sold to John Georges.

"The Advocate, which dates back 171 years and serves readers from Lafayette to New Orleans, is one of the few newspapers in the United States whose print circulation is growing," the paper posted in reporting details about the sale.

Georges obtains the paper and its operations from the Manship family, who also own WBRZ-TV, the news and broadcast service behind WBRZ.com.

WBRZ is not part of the sale.

The purchase price was not disclosed, according to the report.
