Texas man arrested for raping acquaintance
BATON ROUGE- A Texas man accused of raping an acquaintance has been arrested.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office arrested Christopher Appleton-Ellis, 19, of Sugarland, Texas and booked him with second-degree rape in an assault that occurred this past October. The victim reported the rape several weeks after the crime, authorities said.
The victim said she left early from a friend’s birthday celebration and went home to bed. Sometime later, she awoke to find Appleton-Ellis, whom she knew, sitting on her bed. She rejected his sexual advances and said he then raped her, according to police reports.
The day after the rape, the victim confronted Appleton-Ellis through text messages. He acknowledged that his actions were wrong, but excused himself by stating he was under the influence of alcohol. The victim provided detectives with the text messages exchanged between the two.
