Terrebonne Parish school bus drivers have sued the school board, saying it illegally cut their pay by hiring drivers to handle "extra" routes such as field trips and sporting events.
One of the 10 plaintiffs, Nancy Crochet, says that has cut her
pay in half, by about $1,000 a month. School administrators say the new drivers were hired last summer
to save money.
The lawsuit filed Feb. 1 says taking away the routes violates state laws that establish rights for veteran public employees. It seeks unspecified monetary damages.
