Tennis tourney to support veterans
BATON ROUGE - Great news for tennis enthusiasts! It's time for the annual Iberville Bank Team Tennis Challenge. Proceeds from the tournament benefit 'Support Our War Heroes".
The tournament runs Friday, March 6th - Sunday, March 8th. Organizers say 300 players are expected to participate. There's also a gala on Saturday, March 7th.
"We decided we wanted to make community service an emphasis for our bank," Bob Smith said this morning on 2une In. "We chose veterans because of the wars we've been fighting."
If you're not a tennis pro, no need to worry. The tournament will feature players of varying skill levels.
"Each team is guaranteed three sets of doubles," Shane LaCombe told News 2's Kylie Dixon. "There's a lot of perks that go along with it. There's a lot of meals we provide for the players."
Matches are played at Highland BREC, Paula Manship YMCA and the Pennington Conference Center. Visit the Iberville Foundation website for more information.
