A Tennessee woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Louisiana.

State police say Erica B. Billiot of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was driving northbound on La. Highway 1 north of Simmesport when she began passing several vehicles at a high rate of speed.

Troopers say an 18-wheeler, driven by Ernest L. Griffin of Lettsworth was also headed north when he turned left onto a side street when both vehicles collided.

Billiot was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Her passenger, Jennifer A. Mose of Bunkie, received serious injuries and was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital.

Griffin was not injured.
