Teens could be tried as adults for roles in 2014 murder
GONZALES - Two teens accused of beating 15-year-old Brandon Augusta to death were in court for a 72 hour juvenile hearing Monday afternoon.
17-year-old Kahlil Howard and 16-year-old Kaglin Green appeared before a judge due to their roles in the August 2014 homicide of Augusta, whose body was found on the banks of the Mississippi River. Law enforcement said the body was beaten so badly that they could not positively identify it at the scene.
During the hearing, the court found probable cause for both juveniles to be held on murder charges at the Ascension Parish Jail in Donaldsonville. They could be tried as adults.
18-year-old Tyrell Williams and 21-year-old Marcus Ester, also accused in connection with the beating, have been in the parish jail since June 12. All four were arrested on first-degree murder charges.
