Teens accused of killing delivery driver charged as adults
NEW ORLEANS - Two juvenile defendants booked in connection with the murder of a pizza delivery driver last week will face first-degree murder charges in adult court.
WWL-TV reports that the 16-year-olds, Rendell Brown and Shane Hughes, appeared in state court Monday afternoon after being booked with the first-degree murder of Richard Yeager, 35, who died from gunshot wounds he sustained while he was out making a delivery.
Brown and Hughes will also have juvenile armed robbery charges transferred to adult court.
According to New Orleans police, the electronic ankle bracelets that the teens were wearing at the time of the murder were being worn because of prior armed robbery charges and were key to helping NOPD link them to last Monday's murder.
