Teen killed, baby injured after wreck with big rig
SATSUMA - State Police said an 18-year-old driver didn't stop at a stop sign and was killed when her pickup was hit by a big rig in Livingston Parish this morning.
Troopers said an infant in the truck with Isabella Lacasse had minor injuries, and survived the wreck.
Investigators said the wreck happened on Highway 190 and South Satsuma Road just before 8 a.m. They said Lacasse was heading north on Satsuma and tried to turn left onto Hwy 190 without stopping at the stop sign when she was hit by the oncoming 18-wheeler.
Troopers said Lacasse and the infant were both wearing seat belts, and don't suspect impairment to be a factor in the crash. Blood samples from both drivers were sent to the State Crime Lab for analysis.
