Teen girl charged with accidental shooting
BATON ROUGE - Police charged a teen girl Wednesday in an accidental shooting which injured another teen overnight in Baton Rouge.
Detectives arrested 17-year-old Mekiyah Davis Monday night on charges of negligent injury and obstruction of justice.
Police said Davis was playing with a handgun when she fired it, hitting an 18-year-old male victim in the torso. Investigators said he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and Davis lied to police to try and cover up her involvement.
Officers booked her into the parish prison overnight and said they're still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
