BELLE ROSE - A fight between two teenagers left one dead, and another charged with 2nd degree murder.

Yesterday around 6 p.m., Assumption Parish Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to a boy lying in the middle of Dorseyville Lane with a stab wound to his side.

Shortly after the call, another person called 911 because her son told her he just stabbed another boy.

Police say the two teens hit each other, and then one backed away, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the side.

The victim was transported to Assumption Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives detained the 15-year-old subject who was later questioned in the presence of his mother. He confessed to stabbing Eric Myles, Jr.

An eyewitness said she saw the fight start in the street, saying she saw him remove the knife from his side.

The victim ran about 300 feet and then collapsed. Detectives have learned that during the past couple of weeks, they had developed a strained relationship and had fought before in the neighborhood.

Last night, Detectives arrested the 15-year-old Assumption High School student and charged him with 2nd degree murder.

He is being held at the St. James Parish Youth Center. The knife, which is a kitchen grade butcher knife, was recovered from his home.
