Teen driver killed in morning I-12 wreck
GOODBEE, La. - State Troopers said a 19-year-old from Ponchatoula died in a wreck on I-12 this morning.
Troopers said Hailey Nagim died in the wreck around 11 a.m. about two miles east of the St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish line.
Investigators said Nagim's vehicle went off the road and into the grass median for unknown reasons. They said she then swerved, hitting a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle.
EMS airlifted the teen to the Interim LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Nagim was restrained at the time of the crash, and they don't believe she was impaired. They said they're still investigating the crash.
