LAFAYETTE - Lafayette police are investigating a shooting that left a New Iberia teenager dead and a 23-year-old man injured.

Police say the shooting occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in a Taco Bell parking lot.

Cpl. Paul Mouton says the victims were standing in the parking lot when the suspect drove up in an older model car. The suspect fired multiple shots at the victims, striking 19-year-old Frederick Joseph in the back and the 23-year-old New Iberia man in the back and leg.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals. The 23-year-old man remains in stable, but serious condition.

Mouton says Joseph later died from his injuries.

The wounded man's name has not been released.
