Teen arrested in drug deal shooting
BATON ROUGE - Deputies arrested an East Baton Rouge teen after a drug deal where a 14-year-old was shot in the back.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Elijah Ross, 19, after the shooting Thursday night in the 1900 block of St. Croix Drive.
Investigators said Ross told them he and the wounded teen planned to rob a drug dealer, and that Ross had come to the deal armed with a pistol. Deputies said Ross and the dealer fought for control of the gun, and the dealer shot the 14-year-old in the back before fleeing with the weapon.
Ross waited at the scene with the injured teen until EMS and authorities arrived.
Detectives booked Ross into the parish jail on charges of illegal carrying of a weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing.
