Teen accused of cutting ankle monitor arrested after manhunt
NEW ORLEANS- A teenager accused of cutting off his ankle monitor who has been on the run for more than 24 hours was arrested in eastern New Orleans.
Nola.com/The Times-Picayune reports the 16-year-old was found and arrested Wednesday afternoon. New Orleans police and the parish sheriff's office had been searching for the teenager since Tuesday morning.
A sheriff's office spokesman says the teen was in the electronic monitoring program after being charged with simple burglary and illegal carrying of a weapon.
The spokesman says he will face additional charges of criminal damage to property and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
