ST FRANCISVILLE - In West Feliciana Parish, students are returning, and thanks to a new tax many students are too.
A half-cent sales-tax went into effect months ago. And administrators say it's already saved dozens of teachers jobs, and helped lift a salary freeze.
Baines Elementary School Principle Abby Cochran says, "We were able to keep our staff instead of having to get rid of some. There's a direct relationship between our schools and the growth of our community."
The tax runs for ten years.
