Teacher accused of sex with student posts bond
BATON ROUGE - A former Christian Life Academy teacher accused of having sex with one of her students posted a $25,000 bond and was released from jail Wednesday.
Sheriff's deputies arrested 27-year-old Amber Anderson Tuesday on charges of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Detectives said the student's mother contacted them recently about the relationship between Anderson and her son, who was 15 years old when deputies said she had sex with him. Detectives said the teen told them he and Anderson exchanged sexually-explicit texts and later had sex at her home in 2013.
"I was absolutely devastated by the news. This is behavior that is simply not tolerated," said Jere Melilli, founder of Christian Life Academy said. "Frankly, we're thankful that it's been exposed because this goes totally contrary to everything we teach."
Deputies removed Anderson from class Tuesday to question her about the incident. Christian Life Academy listed her as a junior high and high school math teacher on their website, and Dr. Melilli said she was fired after her arrest.
