LAFAYETTE - About 200 students and faculty and staff members at Lafayette High School are awaiting the results of blood tests taken Monday that may indicate if they are positive for tuberculosis.
Blood was drawn from those who had been identified as possibly having been exposed to an individual suspected of having the disease, which primarily affects the lungs.
Dr. Tina Stefanski, medical director for the Office of Public Health in Acadiana, tells the Advertiser the state would be testing a smaller group at Truman Montessori School on Tuesday.
Officials have not indicated whether the person suspected of having TB is on the school's staff or is a student. Stefanski said that person has not been confirmed as having the disease but is awaiting test results that will confirm it.
