Tanker spews liquid nitrogen on La. highway Saturday morning
JEANERETTE - Highway 90 closed Saturday morning south of New Iberia and north of Morgan City after a truck carrying liquid nitrogen spewed its load.
The spill was in the area of Pepper Road. Both directions of the highway were closed shortly after sunrise. Service roads were also closed, authorities reported.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said the liquid nitrogen was evaporating from the tanker. A picture taken by a deputy on the scene shows a huge cloud of the chemical. The truck can barely be seen in the picture.
HAZMAT was on the scene all morning.
