Tangipahoa to study term limits for council
AMITE - The Tangipahoa Parish Council plans to appoint an 11-member committee to study a proposal for limiting council members' terms.
The committee would be able to discuss other potential changes to the parish's home rule charter as well, according to The Hammond Daily Star.
Councilman Harry Lavine brought up the issue of term limits during Tuesday's council meeting in Amite.
Each council member and the president will nominate one person to the committee. The council will nominate committee members at its next meeting on June 10.
