AMITE - Anticipated repairs and renovations to the 53-year-old Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse will be delayed once again.

Parish Council Finance Director Jeff McKneely asked the Council on Monday to reject the bids on the project because they are all too expensive.

McKneely says the lowest bid of nearly $348,000 is still about $126,000 more than the parish has budgeted for the renovations.

McKneely says Parish President Gordon Burgess has promises for an additional $160,000 from the state, but the funds will not be available until September.

The project's main focus will be on the stone facing on the third floor of the building. Officials say parts of the facade have fallen in recent months, posing a danger to those using the courthouse.
