The sinkhole opened up last month on Canal Street in front of Harrah's Casino, opening up above a tunnel that was part of a 1960s project aimed at creating a lakebound expressway but has long been abandoned. Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the hole will cause traffic delays for months to come as crews work to remedy the situation.
