The first batch of the swine flu vaccine is expected to arrive in the Louisiana on Wednesday. The Department of Health and Hospitals said 26,000 doses of the vaccine were being distributed to 50 pediatricians around the state.
It's in the form of a nasal spray called FluMist. Children ages 2-5 are the first on the list to receive the vaccine. More than 100,000 doses of the vaccine are expected to be distributed to health-care providers by the end of the month.
The vaccine will be available to the general public in the coming weeks. The state will post a list of healthcare providers who can administer the vaccine.
